Another windy night, but, dry and comfortable otherwise, so, not a bad night.
Top winners tonight were Dave, Tom and Andy, each garnering 6 points plus the bonus in their matches. First up, starting out even after the first hole against Dan Richardson, filling in for Pete, Dave took a 1-up lead at the 2nd, and never relinquished it. Firing a net par along the way. Nice round Scoop! In similar fashion, Tommy ran a wire-to-wire win against Jeanne. Despite being 4-down after four, Jeanne fought back to win the next 3 holes, shooting bogey-par-par to get back to just 1-down. But Tom regained some momentum to finish 3-up. Nice round folks! Rounding out the 6-3 matches was Andy, coming out firing with a birdie-par-birdie-par start to go 3-up against Brian. Splitting the remaining 5 holes 2 ½ - 2 ½ assured the win.
Two matches went 5-4, starting with the round between Dan and Mike Murphy. The back-and-forth match featured both players leading at some point, with the match being squared-up on 3 different occasions. Looks like a hard-fought battle, and a nice win for Mr. Murphy. Nice match gents! Jim and Mike Fusco had their own slugfest going on, as Mike jumped out to an early 2-up lead after 2 holes. Jim fought back to all-square over the next 2 holes. From there, Mike re-took the lead, only to lose it for good at the 7th hole, as Jim got it to 1-up at the 8th and held on for the win. A real nail-biter for sure!
The remaining matches of Mark vs Bob, and Tim vs Gloria, ended in draws. Mark started out with the 1-up lead, but Bob quickly got it back to all-square at the next hole. From there, with only one hole halved, it was a real back-and-forth match, as Bob would gain the advantage, only to have Mark get back to all-square 3 times, the last time coming at the final hole. Well fought! With Gloria and Tim, it was a little different, as there were 3 holes tied in this match, with the match being all-square 5 times throughout the round. Well played!
Still recuperating, Bette remains in the #1 spot, and Dave is still right behind her. Meanwhile, Marty and Tom moved into a tie for 3rd from their previous 3rd and 4th place positions, respectively. Jim remained in 5th place.
Dave held on to the #1 spot here, while Andy moved up one from 3rd to 2nd, nudging Gloria down into 3rd. With his low net tonight, Tom made a big move up from 9th to 4th, as an absent Marty fell out of 4th, down to 7th. Jim seems to have a thing for the number 5, as that where he sits in these standings as well.
