At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the weather was perfect once again. The long range forecast for next week promises a real muggy one.
Three matches ended at 6 ½ - 2 ½. Starting with the first match out, Mark trounced Andy, coming back from a 1-down deficit after the first hole, either winning or tying all of the remaining holes for the 4-up win. Nice round Mark, I just didnt have it tonight. Maybe next year 😊
Next was Dan vs Bette. Looks like it was an off night for both players, but just a little bit more so for Bette, as Dan got it to 5-up after 8 holes.
Gloria and Mike Murphy started out close, with it all tied up through the first 3 holes, then Gloria went on a tear winning 5 of the next 6 holes for the win. Mike, welcome to the buzz-saw that is Gloria 😊
Mike Fusco was next up, playing cousin Dillon subbing for Pete this week. Mike bested his handicap by 6 strokes on his way to the 6-3 win. Nice round Mike!
Tom and Sue had a fun match, with Sue taking the early 1-up lead, losing it on the next hole, then taking it back at the 3rd. Tom got it back to all square at the 4th, where it remained for the next 3 holes. Tom finished out the match taking the last two hole for the 5 ½ - 3 ½ win. Nice match kids!
Bob got out to an early lead in a back-and-forth match against Jeanne, who was subbing for Brian. Jeane was able to get it back to all square at the 6th, but, Bob pushed it to 2 up through 8, losing the last hole to finish with the 5-4 win. Well fought!
In what looks to be the last of the potential 6 family-matches of the season, Tim led from the first hole to the 7th, with Dave getting it to all square thru 8, Tim utilized his very last stroke to turn the tied hole at the end to his advantage for the 5-4 win. Well done Tim!
Playing for handicap only Joe matched up against Andys card, where they tied 4 holes, with Andy taking the slight 3-2 advantage on the remaining holes for the narrow 5-4 victory.
With week #12 in the books, Tom has broken out of the tie for first with Dave, who hangs on to 2nd place. Marty, not seeing any action this week, somehow managed to move from 4th to 3rd place. Gloria is starting her annual move upward, jumping from 7th to 4th, followed by Andy, who remained in 5th place. Bette dropped out of the top five, tumbling from 3rd to 8th.
With only 2 more scheduled matches to play in, Mark still has no other on the books. Hopefully, a family vacation will not throw him off 😊
The first week of the playoffs saw Dave take over the top spot, leaving Andy trailing by 950 points. With his low net for the week, Mike Fusco leapt from 8th place to 3rd, followed by Tim, who nudged ahead of Tom into 4th place.
