Welcome back Sue!

The weather just keeps on repeating for us. This week, scores were better, as 11 of the 14 players shot at or below their handicaps.  Great showing everyone!

Tim was the top point-winner tonight.  After falling 1-down at the first, he went on to take the next 7 ½ points from Dan Richardson, shooting well below his handicap in the process.  Great round Tim!

Brian was next in line, scoring points and ½ points on every hole, on his way to a 6 ½ - 2 ½ win over Adam. Most impressive was the fact that he shot ½ of his handicap!  Great round Brian!

Mark just can’t catch a break this season.  It seems like no matter how well he plays, each week he brings out the best in his opponent (Brian’s good round was just a week delayed is all).  This week was Tommy’s turn, as both players shot below their handicaps, Tommy just shot a bit more below his than did MarkTommy, nice round! Mark, you’re scheduled to play Pete next week, so, it all depends on the sub…

In the match between Bob and Jim, both players shot 1-below their handicaps to split the bonus point.  Bob sealed the match with a run of 3 full points in the middle third of the round, ending the match at 5 ½ - 3 ½.  Way to go partner 😊

Three matches ended at 5-4, starting with Bette and Sue, making her long-awaited return to play.  Although her return was not with a win, it did come with some excitement, starting with the par 3 6th hole.  Accounts vary here, as some say she skipped her ball across the pond, while others say the ball actually went into the water and “popped” back out (perhaps a malcontent frog?).  In any case, Sue went on to make a par and a net 0 (that’s zero) on that hole.  She didn’t stop there, as she went on to make another par, net 1, on the 7th hole.  Had we not changed the handicap on that hole this week, that would’ve been TWO net 0’s.  Well played Sue! Pete will be proud!

Next up was Dave and BretBret took the early lead here, getting to 2-up through 4.  He then faltered a bit, allowing Dave to get back to all square at the 7th.  A win at the 8th and tie at the last gave Dave the win.  Nice match gentlemen!

The final match of Matt and Andy was another close one, with both players shooting at or below their handicap, the match was all square after the first 5 holes. Andy needed the back-to-back birdies at 6 and 7 to move ahead with enough of a cushion to win the match, despite the double-bogey at the final hole.  Nice match Matt!

The Mohsingers are playing flip-flop at the top of the leaderboard, as Tommy moved up from 2nd to 1st, nudging Bette back into 2ndMarty and Dave held onto the 3rd and 4th place spot, respectively, while Andy moved into the #5 spot, previously held by Jim, who fell to 7th.  Starting next week, some folks can start throwing out low scores to help boost their averages.  I, for one, can’t wait to drop that 2 ½ points that Jim saddled me with in week #3.

Mark remains “other-less”.  I don’t know Mark, maybe you need to take an other as an offering to the golf gods, so they’ll get you some wins 😉

Hacker Cup

Andy, Dave, Gloria and Jim held on to their top #4 spots.  Tim made his move into the top 5 (5th) from 8th place, while Marty partied in Sydney and fell from 5th to 7th. Next week ends the regular season, and the points will reset for the play-offs.

Eagles and Birdies

There were four birdies, with 2 of them coming at the previously 2nd hardest hole #7. Confirming once-and-for-all that this is, in fact, the EASIEST hole on this nine.
